Two Manitoba high school students are being given the chance to attend the Global Youth Institute this fall in Des Moines, Iowa.

The event gives students and teachers the opportunity to meet with their peers from around the world and gain insights into the challenges and opportunities for agriculture in different countries.

Kim Tait, a teacher at MacGregor Collegiate, made the trip last year with one of her grade 12 students.

"It is an amazing opportunity, it is amazingly organized and if you have the chance to nominate a student who is passionate about agriculture, it's well worth the time," said Tait.

She adds Jimmy Carter, John Kerry, and Kofi Annan were some of the dignitaries they heard speak during last year's summit.

Agriculture in the Classroom Manitoba will be accepting applications online until May 12th.
