Federal Ag Minister Laurence MacAuley has wrapped-up his first official visit to Mexico.

He met with the Mexican Secretary of Agriculture José Calzada to discuss a variety of topics geared to increasing the competitiveness of their agricultural sectors.

Canada and Mexico have a strong trading relationship for agriculture and agri-food products worth about $3.5 billion.

Canada now has secured market access for Canadian beef and beef products of all ages to Mexico.

Fresh, boneless beef is Canada's third-highest grossing export to Mexico.

The Canadian Beef industry has projected that the value of this expanded access for beef into Mexico will boost our annual sales by $10 million which could mean Canada’s beef sales to Mexico could eventually exceed $200 million.
