Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) has reached the halfway point in the school year, with programs moving along well.

Executive director for Manitoba, Johanne Ross, says last school year, they reached around 40,000 students and teachers in the province. She says their recent studies show they've impacted about 70 per cent of all schools in the province — but that's only scratching the surface.

"We have a long way to go, and it doesn't mean we've reach every single classroom in each of those schools, but we have had a presence," Ross says. "It's easy for us to go in with our progamming and get everybody pumped up and excited about agriculture, but that's just one school we've reached. So I think the message needs to be continual, and I think what we help our industry do is understand how they can tell their story, and that it's important to tell their story."

Ross says they've got a busy spring ahead with programs such as the Made in Manitoba Breakfast. She says anyone looking to volunteer with the progams should visit the AITC website.
