This year marks the 35th edition of the University of Manitoba Aggie Bedpush Fundraiser.

About 50 volunteers will travel throughout the province Friday and Saturday with a goal of raising money for Manitoba Farmers with Disabilities (MFWD). A BBQ lunch will be held at 1pm on Friday and sponsored by the Elm Creek Co-op at a cost of $3 per person. Funds raised will go towards the Safe Farms Safe Families programs and material.

Organizer Courtney Boyachek explains why they chose to support MFWD this year.

"We're farm girls, so we know how important farm safety is and Manitoba Farmers with Disabilities, they do a lot of work in the classroom with young kids, educating them on the importance of farm safety."

Volunteers will drive to various communities, unload the bed frame and push it down the main drag of each town while collecting funds. Donations can also be made at www.mfwd.ca

Friday, the Aggie Bedpush will be in Oakville, Elm Creek, Treeherne, and Boissevain.

The event will wrap up Saturday with Stops in Minnedosa, Neepawa, Gladstone, and Portage.

The Aggies have been pushing the same bed over 221 kilometres along the same route raising awareness and funds for charities. Over the last two years, the Aggie Bedpush has raised over $22,000 for the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation and Growing Support for CancerCare.
